They don’t believe in giving a sharper focus on one segment to be the best in the segment. “We can continue to give such sharper focus even while staying with a focus on diverse verticals, which are independently profitable if we are serious about every aspect of the business,” he adds.
Whatever one does, that must be done in the best possible way without wasting time and with any excuse, the entrepreneurs believe. Somehow, they find perfect synergy in all their current businesses of passenger car servicing, oil retailing, two-wheeler selling and the new water purifying chemical manufacturing businesses. The new business of manufacturing and exporting water purifying chemicals in the area where the partners have no previous experience. But they have enough knowledge of managing various businesses and running them profitably.
It is a similar way, the Jalaram group has entered into another diversified business -manufacturing of water purifying chemicals, under a separate entity, Jal Aqua International Pvt. Ltd. That is a big step taken by the team towards becoming a corporate business group. “Once we decide to do, we will do it in such a way that sets a standard for others and be the best in the segment,” he claims. The chemical plant is fast coming up in Ankleshwar, in 21,000 square meters of land with flexibility for future expansion, is of world-class with track- record of being the fastest built unit of that size in the world.
The plant is expected to start commercial production by the end of the current financial year. Even before the production starts, the company has received foreign inquiries with indicative order placement in bulk quantities. The team has built the chemical plant is such speed that took only half the time required for setting up a similar plant. “The entire process building the plant from acquiring land to the completion of the project has taken 16 months, out of which erection of the plant has taken only six months,” says Suresh. Nearly a dozen Chinese engineers worked in a team with 25 Indian engineers day and night to complete the project at the earliest, braving the downpour in the region, the heaviest in 17 years.
What made the group of entrepreneurs diversify into as wide as automobile servicing to manufacturing chemical and running restaurant chain? Suresh answers, “when one segment is passing through a phase of slowdown, the other segment will save us and keep us profitable. Such diversification, hence, is not a strange logic.” Suresh and his team never subscribed to the popular conviction that giving sharper focus to only one segment would ensure success and make it the best in the segment. The team has four entrepreneurs with the capability to focus on four corners. “In that context, we can continue to give sharper focus on each segment even while staying with a focus on diversified verticals, which would be independently profitable, if we are serious about every aspect of the business,” he adds. The group also has the advantage of having four dedicated and trustable partners working with perfect synchronization.
Whatever one does, that must be done in the best possible way without wasting time and without any excuse, says Paresh, who looks after the group’s oil retailing vertical. “Somehow, we find perfect synergy in our current businesses of passenger car servicing, oil retailing and two-wheeler selling,” Paresh adds. On the other side, the new business of manufacturing and exporting water purifying chemicals in the area where the partners have no previous experience. “But we have knowledge of managing various businesses and running them profitability. “For this business, we have brought in some knowledgeable hands, who have sufficient experience. Umang Kakadiya has good knowledge of the market for high-purity calcium hypochlorite and sodium hypochlorite. On the project side, we have Ghanshyambhai Boghara’s valuable guidance also,” says Arvind.
The partners have great expectations from the new venture named Jal Aqua international, which will soon start manufacturing and exporting high-purity calcium hypochlorite and sodium hypochlorite around the world. The new plant coming up in Ankleshwar has many unique features and technology standards to produce 12000 metric tons per annum of calcium hypochlorite. “Before the unit is going to stream, we started getting commitments of buying out the entire production by overseas clients. This has inspired us immensely,” says Suresh.
Jal Aqua International will be a truly modern Indian company in all sense of the term, because of its standard of innovation, safety, operational sophistication, market potential, customer relationship, etc, he adds.
Suresh and his team expect the product to be exported to American and Afro- Asian countries, especially to the USA, Canada Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Egypt, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Puerto Rico, Ivory Coast, Togo, etc. The products have huge demand potential all over the world.
