The COVID-19 has evoked worldwide interest in India’s traditional healthcare systems like Ayurveda, naturopathy and Yoga to build immunity and search for a healthy lifestyle, says Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh. In the last four-five months the western world has turned to India to explore the best practices of alternate medicine.
New India will become AtmaNirbhar in health care and will also contribute to the world in providing immunity booster mechanisms through the traditional medicine system. COVID-19 has reiterated and re-emphasised the virtues of integrated healthcare. There is a need to make it part of world medical regimes including that of WHO, says Dr Jitendra Singh, a professor of diabetes and endocrinology. Authored eight books Dr Singh is also a consultant, clinical practitioner and ex-chairman for the National Scientific Committee Diabetes and the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India.
The government is considering medicinal plantation in one million hectares with an investment of Rs 4,000 crore under mission Atmanirbhar Bharat.
