A role-model to youngsters, one who believes in identifying talent before deploying, one who articulates the theory of “any action is embodied in the action”, Nambiar has made himself what he is now.

Nambiar’s ancestry talks a lot about being Ayurveda practitioners. His paternal uncle wanted him to keep the tradition. Ayurveda was more Of charity work for the family than a profession in those days. His father. a former professor in Ayurveda College, Kottakkal, and managing the family Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing unit, didn’t think it right to put Nambiar on this path. That was the time the newly implemented land reforms in Kerala had made many of the erstwhile landlords poorer and his family was one among them. When the family became too poor to meet the expenses of studies, P C Nambiar reached Mumbai. armed with a secondary school leaving certificate and tremendous determination to adjust to the environment that he would be in, at the age of 18.

Four months after he reached Mumbai, his father died. Nambiar started his career on June 3.1974. having secured employment as billing clerk-cum-typist with DUMPT Co. a logistics firm. Two years later. on 16th May 1976, he moved to Doschen, India’s pioneer in manufacturing of reprographic equipment and photographic systems, as Marketing Executive. The company assigned both marketing and commercial responsibilities to him. In early 1977 he could understand that there was tremendous scope for selling an imported lithographic film. This in turn inspired him to get into EXIM trade. In November 1977 he joined Wanson India. which later was renamed Thermax, Subsequently. he was moved to Pune headquarters Of Wanson India. While in Pune. he renewed his interest in higher studies. completing his HSC and graduated in Commerce did his Bachelor in Law from Symbiosis Law College. Pune which was later appended with a short-term Diploma Foreign Trade from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and International Chamber Of Commerce. In 1989 he was invited by poonawalla Group to join them. In 1990 he started handling the entire Exim activities for this group moving up the ladder to the directorship of this company in August 1998 It was under his leadership that the company set up a dedicated Export Oriented Unit (EOU) and two Special Economic Zones within the Poonawalla Group Today. SII the world’s largest vaccine maker.

A veteran in the EXIM segment with sound knowledge of every nuance of the global trade. Nambiar has left a significant imprint in government’s EXIM policymaking, He has been working with the Maratha Chamber of Commerce. Industry and Agriculture since 1979 and since 1992 is the Chairman of the Foreign Trade Committee. In 2003. he was elected as a member at the governing council of Confederation of Indian Exporters and was a member Of the committee that drafted the Rules for Special Economic Zone (SEZ). He was a founder member Of the Export Promotion Council was Chairman of Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs (EPCES) for four years. He was also the Founder Director and Secretary of the World Free-Zones Organization (World FZO). Geneva and now is an ambassador (SAARC) Of the World FZO He is also the president of the association of SEZ and EOU units Of Pune Additionally, he was a visiting faculty at Pune university. Symbiosis Institute Of International Business (SIIB), Institute Of Foreign Trade (IFT). Institute of Management Development and Research (IMDR). National Academy of Customs Excise and Narcotics (NACEN). National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM). etc. Nambiar’s spiritual interests and connections remain as strong as those of his professional ones. He is quite sure that it is his spiritual thinking that keeps him energetic and optimistic. He believes that anything is achievable through Gyna and Karma. Despite all these busy schedules he has enough time for his family and remains alert to inculcate a sense of values in them. He has actively involved in re-modelling a temple complex at Dehu Road. Pune. His wife Vijayalakshmi is a homemaker and daughter. Gayathri is a lawyer with a Masters in Intellectual Property Right (l PR) owning a legal firm Chelton Legal.

P C Nambiar is closely associated with various social. cultural and educational institutions. such as the World Malayalee Council. Pune Malayalee Federation. various regional Malayalee Samajams. Kalpana English Medium School etc. We need to understand how to deploy our capabilities through continuous observation: he believes, Never wait for an order when a job is waiting. Never expect a contradictory result from action as its result is embodied in the action itself. P C Nambiar has proved it through his actions.
