Dr Suresh Kumar came to Mumbai in 1984, reluctantly, to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for securing admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). That year, he passed Kerala University’s Pre-Degree Course (PDC). For him, Mumbai wasn’t a new place since he used to spend his vacation in the city before he came to settle down permanently in the city. His father, K. Madhusudhanan was then doing a small business of running a travel agency sitting in his 50-sq. ft office in a Mumbai suburb.
