Kerala`s messed-up freedom of speech

Authoritarian mindset and control on the PressRulers with the authoritarian mindset and authoritarians themselves come and go. They censor free-Press and anoint their spectres as the ambassadors of the Press to cover up their scandals. Long after the authoritarians vacate their seats, the civilization of the free speech stays alive to be the central pillars of the democracy. The passage of the ordinance in Kerala that was supposed to give the constabulary an extra power and driving the same into a dustbin within hours, shows an aborted attempt of an authoritarian mindset of the Marxist leader. The apostles of freedom of expression and cardinals of free Press were misled by the evasive Chief Minister of Kerala. It is virtual freedom at midnight. No joke, the Press in India is se...

Kerala`s Scandals: Many dirty cats in the stinking bag

Scandals, which include money laundering, gold smuggling and controversial cronyism embroil Kerala State government. The government is at the fag-end of its five-year tenure. While the Chief Minister seems to have lost control over his subordinates, the miserably performing Finance Minister and Higher Education Minister of the State leave a big blot behind the ruling party that had once a strong base in the deep pockets of the State.  An escape route from all the stains is a thought-out and moved about with a plan of adding to the power of State police, which often works as the ruling party’s volunteers. Indefensible, the government is afraid of growing trolls on its failure in social media, which has already started flooding beyond control. Some ill-headed advisors then convinced...

Ever since, the world’s worst hit India’s large population began to endure it fearlessly. One and half months later, the caseload shrunk nearly half, even when daily new cases are in thousands. Where did that secret rapid-recovery magic come from?, asks Sajikumar, who is authoring a book on India’s Covid-19 trials. India has become the world's worst Covid-19 hit after hitting the million-mark on 18th September. Unless we stop the newly fashioned toll count, Covid19 pandemic is not going to go away so easily, even though people have begun to take it slightly, says Sajikumar, who has just completed the manuscript of his second book that is on Covid-19 pan...
